Join our dynamic team as the Japan Associate Director Corporate Counsel, where you will play a pivotal role in advising and supporting our pharmaceutical business operations in Japan. Reporting to the Executive Director Assistant General Counsel - Japan, you’ll contribute to impactful initiatives, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help drive compliance and innovation in the healthcare industry. Grow your career while shaping legal strategies that empower our business and uphold ethical standards. **A Typical Day:** + Provide legal advice on affiliate initiatives, including business plans, promotional materials, corporate communications, and medical activities. + Draft and negotiate agreements with healthcare professionals, organizations, service providers, and other stakeholders. + Collaborate with Compliance teams to investigate incidents, deliver training, and ensure adherence to anticorruption laws like the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and the UK Bribery Act. + Offer legal support for clinical development activities in partnership with the R&D Law team. + Manage corporate secretary activities for the local legal entity, coordinating with the Corporate Governance Group. + Monitor and counsel the business on relevant country laws, regulations, and healthcare trends. + Advise on local employment matters in collaboration with the HR Law Group. + Provide guidance on data privacy topics in coordination with the Global Data Privacy Office. + Partner with global legal teams to address cross-border issues, including regulatory and commercial law, litigation, and intellectual property. **This Role May Be For You:** + You excel in building collaborative partnerships and have a keen understanding of regulatory and commercial law in Japan. + You thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy advising on complex legal matters, including anticorruption, employment, and data privacy. + You are detail-oriented and capable of drafting and negotiating agreements with diverse stakeholders. + You have a proactive approach to monitoring legal trends and ensuring compliance with healthcare laws and regulations. **To Be Considered:** Candidates must hold a law degree and be admitted to practice in Japan or another major jurisdiction (e.g., US). Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency are essential. A minimum of 3 years of legal experience is required, with global in-house commercial legal experience in pharmaceuticals considered a plus.
