This is a Regular Full Time position, guaranteed 40 hours a week Responsibilities Under the direction of the Marketing Director, the Illustrator/Graphic Designer is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and executing high-impact visual content across multiple media platforms to support the marketing and promotional goals of the 374th Force Support Squadron (FSS). The position plays a vital role in enhancing the squadron's visibility, engagement, and branding through creative and strategic visual communication. The Illustrator plans, designs, and produces a wide variety of graphic art materials that support FSS programs, activities, and events. This includes, but is not limited to, logos, infographics, flyers, brochures, banners, posters, signage, newsletters, magazines, supplements, calendars, menus, event maps, promotional items, and digital media assets. Designs are developed with a strong emphasis on audience engagement, promoting participation, and encouraging customer action through visually compelling storytelling. This role is deeply involved in both traditional and digital design practices. The Illustrator utilizes a wide range of tools and methods, including freehand drawing, photography, and graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite-most critically, Adobe Illustrator. In addition, the Illustrator may also work with other tools such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Canva to develop visuals from initial concept to final production layout, ensuring professional quality, brand consistency, and alignment with campaign goals. Work may also involve creating visual aids, diagrams, charts, graphs, and transparencies to enhance communication and information dissemination. The Illustrator may provide or coordinate photographic support for FSS/base-wide events and activities. This includes capturing, editing, and incorporating high-quality imagery into various promotional products. The role also requires attendance at major FSS and base-wide events to provide real-time visual content support and represent the marketing office in a professional and engaging manner. The Illustrator also recommends the most effective formats, materials, color treatments, and reproduction methods for each project. They determine project timelines, technical specifications, and distribution strategies to ensure maximum reach and efficiency. The position may also assist in exploring new media formats and visual solutions to keep pace with emerging design trends and technologies. Operational responsibilities include maintaining both electronic and physical archives of artwork and project files, ensuring the functionality and integrity of design workstations, network access, and peripheral equipment. The Illustrator monitors inventory levels of expendable items such as printer ink, specialty paper, and display materials, and submits supply requests as needed. The Illustrator is expected to stay current with graphic design trends, software updates, and best practices relevant to marketing and public communication. This includes attending trainings or workshops as appropriate and integrating new knowledge into daily operations. Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator is essential, as it serves as the primary platform for creating, editing, and efficiently transferring design files between members of the graphics team. Familiarity with additional Adobe Creative Suite applications-such as Photoshop, InDesign, and Acrobat Pro-is highly desirable and supports a well-rounded design skill set. Experience in freehand drawing is preferred. Must be capable of independently managing non-routine assignments, prioritizing tasks in alignment with organizational policies, deadlines, and program goals. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision are necessary to succeed in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. In addition to graphic design capabilities, incumbent will be familiar with general clerical functions and possess a working knowledge of office software. Experience using Microsoft Office Suite-including Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher-is highly desirable. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution in order to qualify.
