As Animal Management Officer you will:

  • Ensure overall compliance and cooperation throughout the community with regards to the responsible pet ownership and the welfare of companion animals.
  • Engage in a vibrant community-centred approach to the development and implementation of responsible pet ownership and welfare education programs and initiatives.
  • Provide meaningful contributions to the formulation and roll-out of Council's medium and long-term sustainable environment action plans.
  • Support in a team environment in matters relating to investigation, compliance, enforcement, declarations, seizure, and prosecution.

This is a permanent full-time position with an annual salary range of $79,222 - $90,806 per annum + 11.5% superannuation.

This role is on-site 4 days per week and one day from home. When on-site you will enjoy modern and sustainable facilities and office spaces. You are based within our bright, modern and sustainable 311 Glenferrie Road office on the corner of High Street and Glenferrie Road in Malvern where boutique stores, cafes, and health clubs are in abundance. From the office, you can easily walk to Malvern Gardens, High Street Armadale, or Glenferrie Road. Malvern and Armadale Train Station are a short walk away and tram stops are out the front of the building.

Desired Skills and Experience
  • Comprehensive understanding of all relevant Acts, Regulations, and Local Laws with the proven ability to conduct investigations and implement enforcement protocol for any breaches identified.
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills with proven ability to multi-task, set and operate within tight schedules, problem-solve and thrive in pressurised environments.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communicative skills with a demonstrated ability to thrive as part of a collaborative environment and positively contribute to the team.
  • Proven experience delivering fantastic customer service with a strong ability to create rapport and communicate with people of all backgrounds, ages, and capabilities.
  • Relevant post-secondary education and/or significant experience in Animal Control & Regulation.
  • Relevant experience in the application and development of Local Government legislation and enforcement activities.
