An exciting opportunity is now available for an Asset Management Officer to join the Research and Facilities Services Team at SAHMRI. In this position, you will oversee and manage the SAHMRI Asset Management Inventory Management System. You will work closely with a number of key business areas providing advice and guidance on the management of new and existing assets across the institute. This position will be responsible for formulating accompanying policies and procedures while working closely with departments across SAHMRI to ensure quality and compliance is achieved in the management of SAHMRI's organisational assets.
As a key contact for Asset Management at SAHMRI, you will actively support users in all aspects of asset management, providing guidance, training, and advice where required.
About the Role
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement asset management processes and frameworks for asset data management, information and regulatory compliance processes, as well as asset capitalisation and valuation.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in consultation with SAHMRI business units (including but not limited to Research, Facilities, Finance, HR, and ICT).
- Advise the project team in the development and effectual implementation of asset management system changes, and as required, asset audits and user training in line with organisational objectives.
- Work with stakeholders across the organisation to achieve quality/compliance outcomes in relation to assets.
- Assist Corporate Service teams and research teams in creating and maintaining the Infrastructure and Operations asset register and mapping.
- Contribute to the development, implementation, maintenance, and improvement of asset data in asset registers.
- Engage regularly with Corporate Service teams to ensure that financial modelling, asset capitalisation, reporting, and asset audit requirements are aligned.
- Ensure activities comply with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, corporate policy, procedures, and standards.
- Define and train roles within SAHMRI to support effective asset management practice.
- Assist in internal and external audits/effectiveness reviews and report on outcomes.
About You
The successful candidate will possess the following key attributes:
- Relevant experience in asset management and logistics, with tertiary qualifications in a related discipline being desirable.
- Prior experience in a similar role is desirable (preferably within a Research environment).
- A strong working knowledge and understanding of asset management principles and practices.
- Experience in the use of corporate asset management systems.
- Ability to review processes and procedures applied to improve service delivery.
- Proactive and flexible approach to problem-solving.
- Knowledge in the use of database applications.
- High attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate with a range of stakeholders.
Special Requirements
- Some out of hours' work may be required.
- Travel to other SAHMRI sites may be required.
