Overview
The Associate Director, Program Management is a key leadership role within the IT Program Management Office, responsible for driving strategic and transformative projects while ensuring alignment with business objectives and supporting IT's multiyear technology roadmap. This individual will apply deep expertise in program and project management disciplines, portfolio oversight, and team member engagement to support IT's evolving needs. Understanding organizational change management and navigating business scenarios in a fast-paced environment are key aspects of this role. You will be an advocate for change, helping teams adapt and adopt new ways of working while proactively addressing challenges and potential resistance. They will play a pivotal role in educating teams on PM best practices, manage project managers and lead enterprise-scale initiatives.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee large, complex, and high-visibility IT programs and projects, ensuring successful delivery of strategic business initiatives.
- Establish and drive program governance, aligning with organizational goals, priorities, and available resources.
- Champion best practices in project intake, planning, execution, risk management, and delivery excellence across IT functions.
- Advocate for and facilitate organizational change management, ensuring team members are engaged, prepared, and supported throughout transformation efforts.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to project managers, ensuring a strong foundation in project management methodologies and disciplines.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to senior IT and business leadership, providing transparent updates on project health, risks, and challenges including delivering messages and influencing decision-making.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, transparency, and alignment with organizational strategy.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between IT, business units, and key team members to optimize project outcomes.
- Support the advancement and growth of the program management group by helping to identify new objectives, evolving methodologies, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in IT program and project management, with a strong background of delivering complex, ground-breaking projects and strategic initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Information Technology, or a related field (required) OR Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) (preferred)
- Expertise in PM project intake, resource planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Experience leading IT project managers.
- Strong understanding of organizational change management principles, needs and strategies for gaining partner consensus and adoption.
- Process driven approach committed to effectively navigating sophisticated business scenarios and aligning projects with operational goals.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with business leaders and mentor/develop team members.
- Ability to deliver to support and guide teams through change with resilience and adaptability.
- Consistent track record leading process improvements, drive program and project management to maturity.
- Experienced with Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid project management approaches.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Familiarity with IT portfolio management, including prioritization and continuity with technology roadmaps
- Previous experience establishing or evolving a program management organization.
- PMP, PgMP, or other relevant project management certifications
Salary Range
$139,000 - $195,200 a year
