Posting Summary:As a member of the UVMCC leadership team, provide oversight and leadership in facilitating complex administrative and business operations to support the mission of the UVMCC, including but not limited to leadership, research programs, communications and outreach, and shared resources to develop strategies, and provide support to operationalize current cross-functional strategic initiatives. Collaborate with the Cancer Center Director and Executive Director of Administration to implement the ongoing reorganization to optimize infrastructure in alignment with NCI expectations for a designated Cancer Center. Oversee staff support for high profile external advisory, philanthropic and other boards. Responsible for designing short-, mid- and long-range plans for organizational processes in alignment with UVMCC strategic goals and provide expert advice on appropriate staffing to optimize function. Managing Human Resource activities for the Center and identify, develop and coordinate administrative systems of support for staff and Cancer Center faculty using advanced knowledge of operational systems & processes, across both UVM and UVMMC HR platforms. Manage teams working in support of cancer research training & education, informatics and data management, research administration and administrative support services. Provide HR leadership for supporting faculty recruitment, onboarding and research support to other departments and divisions. Oversee the collection, analysis and interpretation of all NCI required data.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience):Bachelor's degree in a related or specialized field and five to six years of related or specific experience. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, cross-functional teams, previous experience with managing HR and ability to analyze situations to devise and direct implementation of operational solutions or recognize when incorporation of input from senior administrators is required. Previous experience at a staff leadership level position operating with a high degree of autonomy/independence and creativity.
Multi-institutional, inter-college and inter-departmental research administration experience. Experience in analyzing data and applying concepts in strategic planning.
Use independent judgement to facilitate and prioritize work across several cross-functional teams and resolves complex problems and triage work based on deadlines. Ability to shift quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Qualifications:Previous experience in an NCI designated, or emerging cancer center.
In-depth knowledge of working in a union environment and best practices in Human Resources.
Knowledge of research processes and systems in higher education and at both UVM and UVM Medical Center.
Anticipated Pay Range:80,000-90,000
Special Conditions:External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, Background Check required for this position, Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy
