The Opportunity

At The Kids Research Institute Australia, our mission is to find cures for childhood diseases.

We are looking for a dedicated Animal Technician to support research activities at our Bioresources Centre and Laboratories. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for providing routine animal husbandry, ensuring the highest standards of care and welfare, and maintaining a clean and sterile laboratory environment.

The position is primarily based within a laboratory setting, involving physical activities such as:

  1. Handling and caring for animals.
  2. Cleaning and sterilisation of equipment and consumables.
  3. Maintaining facility hygiene.

This full-time role requires availability on weekends and public holidays. The position begins at 6.30am daily and includes a mandatory shower entry.

About You

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual with a passion for research and animal welfare.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  1. Completion of Year 12 (HSSD certificate desirable or hospital sterile services experience).
  2. Experience in animal care, husbandry, or a research facility setting.
  3. Knowledge of sterilisation techniques, autoclave operations, and laboratory hygiene practices.
  4. Strong organisational skills and the ability to work both independently and within a team.
  5. A commitment to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
