We currently have a 4-day/week position for the right candidate who has the necessary Christlike character and skills to lead our children's ministry teams and outreach initiatives to see more people come to know and love Jesus.

PENNANT HILLS BAPTIST CHURCH

CHILDREN AND FAMILY MINISTRY LEADER 4 days a week

1.0 PRIMARY PURPOSE

  • To lead and support a range of children's and family related ministries at Pennant Hills Baptist Church, and facilitate transition of children between age-based ministries.
  • To develop relationships and provide pastoral support to children and their families.
  • To support mission related activities for families.

2.0 RELATIONSHIPS

  • Direct Manager - Lead Pastor

  • Parents and their children engaged in related ministries
  • Team Volunteers serving in Children's and Family Ministry
  • SRE Teaching Team
  • Youth Ministry Coordinator
  • Safe Church Officer and Team

3.0 AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

3.1 Children's Ministry (Approx 80% of time)

Serve the church as primary ministry worker for all matters related to ministry with children and their families. This will include:

Bubbles (playgroup), Creche, Plus 5/6 (Primary school Yr5-6)

  • Leading the ministry teams.
  • Overseeing programs and teaching content - including providing comprehensive, consistent, needs-appropriate curricula.
  • Periodically teach all age groups to model teaching and connection.
  • Develop and execute school holiday program including teaching element -
  • Facilitate transition of Year 6 children into high school programs.

Special Religious Education at Pennant Hills Public School:

  • Leading PHBC SRE teachers.
  • Maintain positive relationship with the local SRE head coordinator including confirming teaching dates.
  • Teaching Infants and Primary School Scripture at Pennant Hills Public School.
  • Participate with other SRE teachers to co-lead combined events (e.g. Easter and Christmas services).

Recruiting, training and supporting leaders for children's/family related ministries:

  • Inductions for team members including Safe Church administration.
  • Training in teaching content.
  • Modelling behaviours and skills.
  • Developing relationships with children and families and encouraging them in Christian faith.
  • Relationship-building and pastoral support.
  • Creating opportunities for involvement in church-based and external ministries including visitations, parachurch ministries (e.g. Samaritan's Purse, Prison Fellowship), picnics, camps, conferences, etc.
  • Evangelism programs in collaboration with our mission team - leading and/or supporting mission related activities for children and families including missionary support.
  • PennoLife mission - our January outreach initiative.
  • Engage with the PHBC community via prayer requests, newsletter updates, annual and adhoc reporting, budgeting for portfolio of ministries.

General Church Staff Support (Approx 10% of time)

Participating in weekly staff meetings, supporting resulting outcomes. Providing support as required for major church initiatives and activities.

Training & Development (Approx 10% of time)

  • Meet with Lead Pastor on a regular basis and suitable mentor/children's ministry supporters and adopt development expectations that arise.
  • Undertake continuing professional development in consultation with the Lead Pastor.

4.0 MINIMUM REQUIREMENT

Have up to date and approved:

  • Police Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Creating Safe Spaces training
  • SRE Provider Training

To be above reproach in character and conduct as fitting for a leader in God's church. Experience working with children in ministry and/or vocation. To be a Christian and member of Pennant Hills Baptist Church.

5.0 REVIEW PROTOCOL

  • Annual reviews with the Lead Pastor. Other persons to be involved in the review as deemed appropriate by the Lead Pastor.
