About the project & opportunity:
Acciona Construction has been engaged by Australian Naval Infrastructure (ANI) to deliver the Link Road Project which is the first phase of development to allow key access to the site and streamline logistics. This role will be based predominantly on site during construction phase.
Key accountabilities for the position:
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and negotiation of all upstream head contract claims (Scope Variations, Target Adjustment Events).
- Ensure claims are managed in accordance with the contract terms and conditions.
- Maintain a detailed log of all claims and track their progress through Head Contract Module of the Contract Valuation in LinkedOffice.
- Establish and manage a robust change control process.
- Review and interpret contract terms to ensure compliance and identify potential claim opportunities.
- Lead negotiations with the client regarding contract claims and variations.
- Resolve disputes efficiently, ensuring minimal impact on project timelines and costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the client, subcontractors, and internal teams.
- Ensure all claim-related documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted in a timely manner.
- Prepare detailed reports and analysis on claim progress and outcomes.
- Leading, coaching, and developing the Commercial & Project team in commercial and contractual matters.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Tertiary qualifications in engineering/construction, law or similar with extensive experience in contracts supporting large complex infrastructure projects
- Ability to accurately read, interpret, develop and negotiate terms and conditions of contracts
- Experienced in head contract management as well as providing leadership downstream to wider team
- Highly effective in negotiation and managing complex disputes
