Why Your Role Matters
The Communication and Engagement Manager (Canberra City) will lead the design and coordinate the strategic positioning of UNSW Canberra as it progresses Canberra City Program. You will be highly influential over the communications and engagement strategy, plans and initiatives both externally and internally. You will play a critical part in the navigation of all relationships in the formation of initiatives, and the execution of activities that will impact the University's reputation in the hearts and minds of the complex stakeholder groups that are affected by this program. Reporting to our Dean and Rector, you will also work closely with the Faculty Executive Director and other senior faculty managers, as well as leaders across the divisional portfolio under the Vice-President of Societal Impact, Equity & Engagement.

This collaboration will ensure that messaging and activities are aligned with and complementary to the broader University communications strategy. As a strategic coordination role, this position will require close collaboration with both faculty and program stakeholders, as well as the following central divisions and groups: Estate Management, Research and Enterprise and Future Students.

Who You Are (skills and experience):

  • Demonstrated success in developing and implementing communication and engagement strategies for complex projects or initiatives.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience in a relevant role, providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Proven deep understanding of the inner workings of ACT and the public service environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence, build and maintain strong relationships with diverse groups both internal and external to your organisation.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and tailor messages to different audiences using a variety of channels.
  • Experience in consultation, communication and engagement across community, government, industry and senior staff and internal work groups, with a demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate communication and engagement activities effectively using sound judgement.
