Job Summary The Director of Business Analysis plays a key role in driving UTAs ability to understand its customers and to develop actionable strategies driving innovation and improvement at UTA. The Director is primarily responsible for leading the team that measures and monitors the overall performance and health of UTA and tracks key strategic initiatives. This position will proactively identify trends and business opportunities by bringing insight through detailed data analysis which will allow for informed strategy and business development. They will lead the development and maintenance of standardized analysis, performance metrics and measurement. The Director will manage the operationalizing and automating of all capabilities to ensure secure, supported, and scalable operations solutions. This role entails outstanding business to technical translation, structured yet creative thinking, cross-functional collaboration, hands on advanced analytical methods, and managing a team of analytics professionals. The Director operates with considerable independence, working closely with senior leadership, their peer groups, and key stakeholders to deliver high quality, credible analyses. In this role, they will lead a team designing and building data solutions that capture, explore, transform, and utilize data to support business analytics. Ensures UTA adheres to all reporting and compliance regulations. Promotes a data-driven culture and alignment between business and technology. Oversees mission-critical operations applications team to ensure seamless user experience between applications and day-to-day core business functions. Manages ridership collection equipment and processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting of ridership data. Provides leadership, vision and professional development for team members and exhibits living the UTA Way.
Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION/TRAINING
Masters Degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analysis, Science or equivalent.
EXPERIENCE
- Five years progressive leadership experience in operations research, quantitative analysis, performance management, project management, and business development.
- Strong background in data analysis tools and information systems preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Developing and implementing strategic plans and performance standards that are aligned with organizational strategies.
- Translating market research results to design an integrated transit system.
- Conducting complete and detailed analysis and documentation of business processes and data flows.
- Designing business intelligence solutions and developing decision-support tools for senior management and operations staff.
- Managing technical and operational projects that involve cross-departmental teams to achieve desired results.
- Consulting experience in board and corporate level decision-support, business process redesign and improvement.
- Budget management experience.
- Experience in process auditing and improvement, using quality management principles (e.g. Lean, Agile, ISO 9001).
- Experience in hiring, development, and retention of diverse talent that makes a strong, positive impact on the organization
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Understanding of transit organization and systems (preferred)
- Designing performance standards, setting baseline measurements, implementing standards, and performing root-cause analysis.
- Current methodologies for collecting, transforming, analyzing, and interpreting data to actionable insight. (R, Python, SPSS, SAS, Minitab, etc.)
- Database and data warehouse design, data cleansing concepts (ETL), user acceptance testing, and data definition/data manipulation languages.
- Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
- Demonstrates an understanding of business priorities
