Overview Work type: Full time Salary: Salary not specified Grade: See Advertisement Occupation: Insurance and Superannuation Location: Various Reference: VG/4199The Investigator (Scheme Integrity Investigations) has a vital role in conducting investigations into alleged contraventions of the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 (WIRC Act) by injured workers, employers, and service or health providers, which may lead to criminal prosecutions. Investigators investigate allegations of fraud against the WorkCover scheme by injured workers and service providers or health practitioners, and allegations relating to employers who are non-compliant with their obligations under the WIRC Act. The complexity of individual cases may vary, and Investigators work closely with Senior Investigators and Team Leaders to make recommendations on appropriate actions at key decision-making points in the investigative process.
- $112,402.00 per annum + 11.5% superannuation

- Geelong or Melbourne based role (hybrid - 3 days a week in office)
Key accountabilities
- Plan and conduct fraud and employer non-compliance assessments and investigations into alleged contraventions of the Workers Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013 by injured workers, employers, and service or health providers
- Undertake assessments and investigations within specified timeframes in accordance with divisional performance measures
- Use coercive powers to obtain evidence, obtain witness statements, conduct analysis, and make recommendations at key decision-making points
- Review claim records and claims manual material to inform decision making in accordance with relevant legislation
- Conduct recorded interviews with investigation subjects under formal caution
- Prepare quality written reports in support of investigation outcomes
- Compile briefs of evidence to the criminal standard for legal review
- Work closely with WorkSafe's lawyers regarding investigation outcomes and prosecutions
- Provide evidence in court as a witness and Informant
About you
You are an experienced investigator who has knowledge of Workcover legislation, injury claims management and ideally a strong financial / fraud investigations skillset, in addition to:
- Experience in gathering and analysing evidence, conducting interviews, preparing written reports with investigative findings
- Knowledge of Workcover legislation and injury claims management
- Ability to interpret and understand legislation
- Highly developed analytical skills and attention to detail
- Must hold a current Victorian driver licence and have the ability to travel and work after hours as required
- Experience conducting fraud based investigations and preparation of briefs of evidence to the criminal standard (desired)
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations / Investigative skills course (desired)
