About the Role:
WorkPac are currently seeking a Legal Assistant to join the State Agreements and Approvals team within Rio Tinto. This role will assist with administrative tasks relating to land tenure, operations, assets, and infrastructure (current and future) within the Wardens Court. This role is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic individual who possesses the ability to manage multiple tasks and maintain flexibility to adapt to changing business conditions. This position is a Monday to Friday roster, reporting to the Manager Wardens Court.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the identification, preparation, and lodgement of relevant objections to protect Rio Tinto's tenure and infrastructure portfolio.
  • Ensure compliance obligations to support the objections and wardens court process within regulatory timeframes, including the preparation and lodgement of statutory documents and correspondence.
  • Maintain the Wardens Court obligations database, monitoring and recording compliance within relevant deadlines and prepare weekly & monthly reports.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with RTIO technical and support staff to ensure timely receipt of support documentation.
  • Perform general administration duties which include document control, coordinating meetings, and taking minutes.
  • Comply with all HSEQ systems, chairing and contributing to team and safety meetings.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience working with the Western Australian Mining Act, Land Administration Act, or State Agreement Act or associated processes beneficial.
  • Extensive administrative experience, or experience working within a strict regulatory or compliance environment.
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant field beneficial.
  • High level of attention to detail with proven experience in a role where accuracy and timelines are paramount.
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to fluctuating workloads.
  • Experience in the Wardens Court in Western Australia beneficial.
  • Experience using Mineral Titles Online, WAMEX, and LANDGATE beneficial.
  • Experience using TENGRAPH, ArcGIS, or similar mapping systems beneficial.
