About the role

In this role within the Gas Market Operations team, you will contribute to the continued operation and development of systems and processes for market operations and monitoring. You will support market participants in their interactions with market systems, conduct analysis, as well as contribute to projects to uplift IT systems and implement market reforms.

What you will be doing

  • Support the operation of wholesale gas markets in-line with the National Gas Law, the National Gas Rules and the Procedures.
  • Analyse market operations and report on wholesale gas market outcomes.
  • Respond to queries and educate stakeholders on AEMO gas markets.
  • Contribute to projects to update gas market systems, procedures or processes.
  • Develop Power BI dashboards and SQL queries to streamline data extraction and reporting for a broad audience.
  • Contribute to and prepare reports for publication on market events and present reports at market participant and stakeholder forums on market outcomes.
  • Participate in an on-call roster to support markets outside of business hours.

What you will bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in economics, commerce, law, information technology, engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience working in an analytical role - preferably in the energy sector and gas markets.
  • Capability to interpret, operate in compliance and develop technical documents and/or legal instruments.
  • Demonstrated experience in solving complex problems.
  • Skilled with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and SQL.
  • Familiarity with software requirement development, design, testing and change management processes is not necessary but well regarded.
