Job Description

HammondCare pastoral care volunteers have an opportunity to support the spiritual and emotional needs of elderly residents living in their home. As a pastoral care volunteer, you'll be actively involved with a local Christian church.

You'll supplement and complement the work of our HammondCare At Home Pastoral Care Coordinator, and under their direction you may:

  1. Support people to meet their spiritual needs.

Skills required for this role:

  1. High level of interpersonal skills, including strong empathy and listening skills.
  2. Pastoral Care training, for example, Chaplaincy, Clinical Pastoral Education, or you could attend HammondCare pastoral care training - Spiritual Care Series, in preparation to becoming a pastoral care volunteer.

When: starts Thursday 20th February, concludes 10th April.

Volunteering alongside Pastoral Care can be a rewarding experience, both for the person you visit as well as yourself. Regular visits from volunteers can help to improve quality of life and help people feel less isolated.

We're passionate about improving the quality of life for people in need, and we have a wonderful group of volunteers that make a difference in the lives of our clients. We'll provide training, as well as specific pastoral care training, Spiritual Care Series, along with ongoing support and invitations to social events.

Requirements

18 years or older • National Volunteer Police Check arranged and paid for by HammondCare.

One hour each week for 6 months or longer. We would be happy to discuss a suitable time between Monday to Friday, 9am-4pm.
