About the role
As a key member of our Data Engineering team, you will work with us to design, build and deliver leading edge data solutions. The work we do is broad but always focused on delivering the best outcome for our clients.
This role can be based in Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane.
As a Principal Data Engineer you will:
- Successfully lead data projects & teams - sometimes concurrently - varying in size, complexity & ambiguity to achieve fantastic outcomes for both clients and Mantel Group
- Play a technical, hands-on role on projects as needed using a variety of modern big data tools and cloud technologies
- Drive further growth for Mantel Group - identifying and pursuing new opportunities, as well as having a meaningful impact across pre-sales initiatives, particularly with technical input
- Be across commercial aspects of a project - such as project estimation and resourcing, project scoping and pricing
- Establish and maintain relationships with clients as a source of informed, reliable, professional advice about solution options
- Mentor and coach our team members and clients
- Provide ongoing guidance and support to our broader data team
- Be the data engineering consulting SME, lead the teams on best practices and provide ongoing guidance and support
- Building Mantel Group's reputation within the broader community as a known thought leader representing the company through social and meetup channels to develop market awareness
We want to hear from you if you have:
- Background in a reputable consulting organisation, with a focus on the technology and data domains
- Commercial data experience across different industries and organisations
- Proficiency in steering large scale data projects in complex enterprise environments
- Ability to engage with senior level stakeholders and having a broad influence in the internal and client's teams
- Experience in designing and presenting complex architectures to stakeholders
- Strong expertise in solution architecture, data engineering and development, particularly with modern big data tools (e.g. Databricks / Snowflake), and a range of cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP)
- Prior involvement in pre-sales activities, including responses to RFP/RFTs, project scopes, SOWs
- Proven leadership abilities, including mentoring and coaching individuals across different skill levels
- A keen interest in continuous learning, including upskilling in modern technologies and obtaining new certifications
- Self-motivated and hands-on approach, adept at navigating ambiguity to find solutions
- The ability to explain technical concepts regardless of the audience
