In this role, you'll:
- Lead the delivery of maintenance and construction programs across the Central West District, monitoring and reporting project progress to ensure delivery as per agreed milestones and cost.
- Manage project and delivery processes to ensure nominated road or traffic infrastructure and/or maintenance projects are developed and delivered to agreed time, cost, quality and scope requirements.
- Lead a team of people including work crews and external contract works to ensure project outcomes are achieved.
- Develop project briefs and cost estimates, procure and oversee service providers, and monitor and review ongoing work programs to effectively use resources and deliver agreed objectives.
- Prepare contract documents for road works projects, including technical specifications to engage, administer and deliver contract works and ensure efficient project delivery.
- Implement effective cost management systems to ensure efficient financial management of projects.
- Implement appropriate procedures, guidelines, processes and practices, in collaboration with TfNSW specialists, to deliver a high level of workplace health and safety and environmental management on projects and contracts.
The Project Engineer Level 1-2 position is suitable for a range of experience levels, with a preference for experienced project delivery engineers. The pay scale for this role will be negotiated with the successful applicant according to their skills and work experience.
There are currently 2 x ongoing full-time roles available which can be located at either Bowenfels (Lithgow) or Orange. These positions involve project delivery, site work and travel across the Central West District. Transport has flexible working arrangements in place, however as this is a delivery focused role responsible for leading teams you will be required to attend Transport for NSW offices and project site locations at times that match in with the crew that reports to you. This is not a work from home role and is well suited to someone who loves to get their boots dirty and see project delivery in action!
The role includes a 35-hour flexible working hours week with excellent award entitlements including living away from home allowance and opportunities for pre-approved overtime.
About you
To be considered for this role you will have tertiary qualifications in civil/structural engineering and have experience in the design, construction, inspection and/or maintenance of pavement, road and/or earthworks infrastructure.
You have experience in the preparation of competitive and accurate estimates, job programs, project delivery briefs and WH&S management plans, quality, environmental, and traffic management plans for assigned projects.
You have experience in managing a labour workforce to successfully undertake construction and maintenance projects.
You will be a proactive analytical thinker and possess high level communication skills. The ability to astutely manage time and work collaboratively and closely with stakeholders to deliver is paramount, as is your dedicated commitment to safety and quality.
You possess a current and valid Australian motor vehicle driver licence and willingness to work outside normal working hours and travel on occasion.
