The aim of a chaplain funded via the NSCP is to support the emotional wellbeing of students by providing pastoral care services and strategies that support the emotional wellbeing of the broader school community within the framework of The Salvation Army's mission and values. The role of the Chaplain is a non-proselytising one. Ministering to students and staff, a school chaplain respects and is sensitive to the views, values and beliefs of others.
About The Role We are seeking a dedicated School Chaplain for our Aldercourt Primary School in a Part-Time capacity. This position is based out of Frankston North.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the (Grade profile HAY level 12).
Key Responsibilities: - Provides spiritual and pastoral care, encouraging personal faith growth.
- Conducts Christian ceremonies and services according to The Salvation Army's rites.
- Supports student attendance, engagement, and emotional challenges, offering referrals when needed.
- Provides pastoral care and guidance on values and ethics, connecting students with appropriate services.
- Promotes the holistic development and wellbeing of students and staff.
- Establishes positive relationships within the school, local corps, and the Victoria Division Chaplaincy Team.
- Works as part of the wellbeing team to deliver student wellbeing services.
- Maintains connections with local faith communities.
- Fosters a cooperative and respectful environment, promoting cultural and traditional understanding.
- Works within the frameworks of The Salvation Army and National Schools Chaplaincy Program.
- Participates in planning, implementation, and reviews with the line manager.
- Attends required Salvation Army meetings.
- Follows the Local Mission Delivery Plan and collaborates as needed.
- Completes SAMIS entry monthly, adhering to TSA and legal standards.
- Manages budget and financial matters according to TSA protocols, reviewing with the line manager every six months.
- Follows risk management and work safety procedures.
- Submits study applications for approval through line manager to DCM and TCSU Manager.
About You: - Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army and previous or current chaplaincy experience or relevant experience in a similar position.
- Qualification requirements for the role include:
- Diploma of Chaplaincy (or willingness to complete)
- Training in Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE)
- Relevant qualifications in theological studies (preferred)
- Positive Lifestyle Program (PLP) Facilitator training (preferred)
- A Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- A current and valid Working with Children's Check
- A valid Victorian Driver's license.
