Our federal government client is an independent agency that provides reliable health and welfare data to inform policy and decision-making. It collects, analyzes, and reports on a wide range of topics, including public health, housing, disability, and aged care.

About the Role
The Business and Technology Group within the client is seeking a Business Analyst to join the Business Development and Delivery Unit. You will support project managers, software developers, and solution architects to deliver projects for business by undertaking core business analysis activities. The role includes engaging with stakeholders, conducting detailed requirements analysis, documenting business processes, developing standard templates and procedures, and producing reports. To succeed in this role, you should have an analytical way of thinking and be able to explain complex concepts to non-technical users.

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide expertise, leadership, and guidance to business units who seek expert input from ICT.
  • Elicit, manage, and document requirements through stakeholder engagements such as meetings, workshops, and working groups.
  • Evaluate business processes, business service functions, uncover areas for improvement and optimization, formulate solutions, and ensure solutions meet business needs.
  • Effectively communicate business insights to team members and management.
  • Effectively manage work plans with consideration for competing resources and priorities.
  • Serve as a liaison between business stakeholders and ICT Units in the Group.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Experience in supporting projects through business analysis, requirements management, reporting, and presentations.
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills to drive change.
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and improve business analysis practices and artefacts.
  • Excellent planning, organization, and time management skills.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies, with experience as a Scrum Master or agile team member (desirable).
  • Knowledge of data analysis and operations, with relevant industry certifications or awards (desirable).
