The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service. We proudly provide Victorian energy and water consumers with free, accessible, and informal dispute resolution. Find out more about who we are and what we do here .

Your new role and team

The strategic communications team is responsible for developing high quality communications to EWOV's stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, policy-makers, the Ombudsman, media, consumers, energy and water providers and representative organisations.

As an EWOV Senior Communications Advisor, you will use your expertise in communications to support the implementation of EWOV's external communications strategy and internal communications across the organisation. You will lead media relations, oversee social media channels to enhance awareness of our work and strengthen stakeholder engagement. This role plays a key part in ensuring clear, consistent and effective communication across multiple platforms both internal and external to EWOV.

This position offers full-time hours, with potential consideration for part-time arrangement for the right candidate.

To help you succeed in this role you'll need to bring:

  • Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing or related field.
  • Excellent written communications skills and proven ability to distil complex messaging into accessible language, with the ability to tailor messaging for different audiences.
  • Experience implementing external communications strategies.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships and liaise across all levels of the organisation.
  • Well-developed administrative and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise, manage and meet competing deadlines in a multi-stakeholder and multi-project environment.
  • Proven experience in media relations, including managing media inquiries and writing press releases.
  • Strong social media management skills, including content creation, analytics and engagement strategies.
