An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Payroll Officer to join a fast-growing, market-leading business. The successful candidate will be joining a high-performing Finance team, playing an integral role in bringing the company's strategy to life. The role involves responsibility for the payroll function and a significant role in personnel costs analysis and reporting on HR data.
What you'll do:
- Process payroll, journals, and reconciliations, including year-end close activities.
- Calculate and prepare regular workers' compensation and payroll tax returns, including annual reconciliations.
- Act as the first point of contact for all payroll inquiries.
- Handle onboarding, terminations, and any employee changes.
- Maintain staff employee records, including superannuation, mileage, and leave.
- Identify opportunities & execute changes for automation, system enhancements, and process efficiencies to optimise payroll operations.
- Calculate relevant shared personnel services cost allocations, with confidentiality.
- Review compensation-related P&L items and provide commentary.
- Prepare and analyse reports related to regulatory reporting.
What you bring:
- 7+ years in payroll and compensation, including 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation, tax regulations, and employment law
- Experience in Payroll & HRIS systems (Netsuite; ADP, or similar)
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, or related field
