About the position

The Senior Research Librarian's role is to proactively liaise with researchers and work across campuses to promote, develop, deliver, evaluate and improve research information services that align with the University Research Strategy and optimise La Trobe University's research output and researcher success.

In partnership with library colleagues and researchers, this position uses expert knowledge to advise on and facilitate the use of research resources and tools to maximize researchers' impact and reach.

Duties at this level will include:

  1. Developing collaborative relationships and partnerships with researchers, graduate researchers and other University stakeholders to deliver and promote programs and services that optimise outcomes for researcher success.
  2. Providing guidance and expert advice to researchers and graduate researchers regarding publication reporting, research outputs, repository, research data management, literature searching, research impact metrics, open scholarship, and academic profiles.
  3. Participating in Library Researcher Education programs, including planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating online and face-to-face workshops, seminars, and programs for researchers.
  4. Maintaining up to date knowledge of the research data environment and requirements to provide and document accurate advice and information to researchers.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

  1. An undergraduate degree in any area relevant to the position with at least 4 years subsequent experience; or extensive experience and management expertise; or an equivalent alternate combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or experience.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills, especially the capacity to work collaboratively and cooperatively in small teams.
  3. Demonstrated organisation and problem-solving skills, with an ability to manage several different projects concurrently.
  4. Demonstrated skills in research, evaluation or interpretation of data.
  5. Demonstrated ability to form a detailed knowledge of academic and administrative policies and the interrelationships between a range of policies and activities.
