Job Description
Position OverviewThis position oversees internal and external development for the CCO. The Student Development Director develops internal protocols and procedures, supports internal and external use of volunteer.ku.edu, coordinates office operations, and supports fundraising initiatives. This position serves as a member of the CCO's Executive Staff.
Per the State of Kansas, student employees may hold concurrent appointments not to exceed maximum appointment and hours worked levels . However, concurrent student appointments must be of matching FLSA designation (exempt/salaried or non-exempt/hourly).Job Description
External Relations and volunteer.ku.edu Site Management - 35%
Work in conjunction with the Executive Director to expand campus reach by developing partnerships with campus groups and student organizations.
Foster and maintain alumni relations through a regular newsletter updating alumni on events and opportunities.
Serve as a liaison between CCO and Student Senate in accordance with Article X. Section 1. of the Student Senate Constitution.
Assist in developing the CCO's ability to fundraise under the oversight of the Executive Director and Managing Director.
Oversee the maintenance and growth of the Center for Community Outreach's University programs through semesterly Community Partner Assessments.
Work with representatives from the Center for Service Learning, various student groups and university organizations to develop the Center for Community Outreach's role in service and experiential learning at the University of Kansas.
Monitor and approve hours on volunteer.ku.edu.
Create and distribute materials to student organizations and others to help utilize and navigate volunteer.ku.edu and Galaxy Digital Causer app.
Assist external student organization User Group Leaders in monitoring hours and navigating volunteer.ku.edu.
Provide the Center for Community Outreach and other relevant organizations with an end of semester report outlining volunteer impact through CCO programs and other service documented through volunteer.ku.edu.
Internal Program Support and Office Management - 35%
Work with the Managing Director and the Center for Community Outreach advisors to develop learning objectives and outcomes for the development and growth of the CCO. Coordinate opportunities to facilitate progress toward these goals.
Develop and implement accountability and training protocols for CCO staff, program coordinators, and community partners in collaboration with CCO and CSL leadership, including one Fall and one Spring educational retreat.
Create engaging and beneficial group activities for every CORE meeting to foster a welcoming community among Executive Staff Members and Program Coordinators.
Collaborate with the Executive and Managing Directors to organize Super Service Saturday.
Assist CCO program coordinators in navigating volunteer.ku.edu in reference to tracking program volunteer hours.
Oversee office operations including inventory and maintaining and a clean and productive workspace for all members of CCO.
Manage an updated spreadsheet of all available inventory including location and amount for everything in the office.
Executive Staff Collaboration - 20%
Participate in weekly Peer Advising meetings with the Managing Director.
Contribute to CCO Executive Staff meetings.
Attend CCO Advisory Board meetings and report position updates.
Work collaboratively with all executive staff to evaluate progress and set goals for the CCO.
Report directly to the Executive Director and Managing Director.
Additional tasks and projects as determined throughout the term - 10%
Required Qualifications
Evidenced commitment to community outreach and service.
Ability to lead and work with teams as evidenced in application material.
Ability to work collaboratively with others as evidenced in application material.
During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or 2) be pre-enrolled in upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or 3) be enrolled in summer session or 4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working with the Center for Community Outreach.
