Job Description

Salary: Teacher, $85,610 - $124,046 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2023)

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2025

Derby District High School (DHS) is located in Derby which is situated at the southern end of King Sound in the Kimberley region of Western Australia. Derby is 220km east of Broome by road and is 2463km north of Perth. It was the first town settled in the Kimberley.

Derby DHS is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and dedicated English Teacher.

The successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. Applicants will ideally have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to prepare students for OLNA and NAPLAN.

As part of this role, you will engage and build productive working relationships with students and be involved collaboratively with your colleagues to improve student results. We are seeking a teacher who is student and relationship focused, enthusiastic and innovative with the capacity to provide culturally responsive, engaging, relevant, and meaningful experiences while catering for diverse student learning needs.

The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans that suit a wide range of learners. The successful applicant will ideally have knowledge of trauma informed practice and explicit direct instruction and experience in applying this into a classroom setting.

With effective interpersonal skills, the successful applicant will work closely with students, colleagues and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. The ability to adapt with and utilise technology within the English learning area would be highly regarded.
