Are you a passionate educator looking for a rewarding teaching experience? Leonora District High School (DHS) invites applications for a dedicated Home Economics and Art Teacher to join our team, teaching both primary and high school students.
Located in the Goldfields-Esperance region, north of Kalgoorlie, Leonora DHS caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Our school has a long history of supporting the local community by embracing the cultural diversity that is Leonora. With 112 student enrolments, 79% being of Aboriginal heritage, the school embeds the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework throughout the curriculum.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal skills and have the ability to provide students with the highest quality curriculum delivery and programs within the Technologies (Home Economics) and Arts Learning Area. The successful applicant should be able to self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.
This position will be working across the school from primary to high school classes with small numbers of students who enjoy hands-on projects.
We value the linking of learning with real-world experiences and how this enables connections they can take into pathways beyond school. A thorough understanding of instructional and curriculum design, whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within the Learning Area would be highly regarded. Utilising effective interpersonal skills, you would work closely with students, teachers, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to display differentiated teaching practices within the classroom, and skills and strategies that support the development of the Food Production and Textiles curriculum across classes of varied abilities. Due to the increasing depth and breadth of District High School subject offerings, flexibility would be highly desirable.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Leonora District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $8,500 (pa, gross - to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
