Leonora District High School (DHS) invites applications for a dedicated Science - Mathematics Teacher to join our team, teaching both primary and high school students, with a small class size and a focus on On-Country Learning Experience.
Located in the Goldfields-Esperance region, north of Kalgoorlie, Leonora DHS caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 12. The school has a long history of supporting the local community by embracing cultural diversity, with 112 student enrolments, 79% of whom are of Aboriginal heritage. The school embeds the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework throughout the curriculum.
We're actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Mathematics and Science teacher to join our dynamic team.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to apply their expertise in the Mathematics and Science Learning Areas, utilising their knowledge and teaching experience to encourage and support our students to achieve outstanding results. You should also have an understanding of how to differentiate your teaching to meet the needs of students in your classes.
The successful applicant will work across Years 7 to 12, according to college needs, and bring their expertise to the Mathematics and Science Learning Areas, ideally applying their knowledge of these subjects and experience in teaching Senior School Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Mathematics to help our students achieve outstanding results. You should be self-driven and able to create engaging learning experiences for students, be familiar with online literacy and numeracy assessment (OLNA), and be able to teach across primary class levels.
The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to work in multi-age group classes requiring differentiation and have a sound awareness of how to embed the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework into daily practice. You will engage in professional learning, work professionally with colleagues, and ideally have good communication and interpersonal skills, working as a member of a vibrant and enthusiastic school team.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Leonora District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $8,500 (pa, gross - to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
You may be eligible for HELP/HECS assistance if you are working in a very remote location.
Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role or transfer permanently into this school.
