About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Technical Support Officer to join our JORN (Jindalee Operational Radar Network) Line of Business based at SA-RAAF Edinburgh.
Reporting to the Battlespace Surveillance Centre Maintenance Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring the operational availability of ICT and engineering systems in support of the RAAF surveillance capabilities.
The role will see you working across a shift pattern which encompasses days and evenings.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support ICT and technical systems in order to maintain the Jindalee Operational Radar Network (JORN) and other relevant surveillance systems
- Perform basic network administration functions utilising the Red Hat operating system
- Assist in system level fault-finding including the management of faults and liaising between the customer, field technicians and engineering teams
- Perform inspections and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure availability of ICT systems, emergency backup power and cooling systems
- Ensuring documentation of all faults and maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with engineering procedures
- Monitor system health and performance
- Prepare, update and compile fault reports and documentation on significant outages and limitations to the system
- Maintain knowledge and expertise in propriety products used in the surveillance systems
- Carry out investigations into deficiencies and defects within the BSC operational support area
- Fulfil all the requirements of an Authorised Tradesperson under the Sustainment Maintenance Contractor (SMC) structure
About YOU
- Certificate IV or higher or relevant experience in a technical field such as Electronics, Telecommunications, Information Technology
- Demonstrated experience across areas such as Radar/ Telecoms/ Electronics/ IT Networking and Systems Administration
- Demonstrated Experience working in a customer focused IT team, and able to work with minimal supervision
- Demonstrated Experience in administering Red Hat Linux operating system
- Demonstrated Experience in network troubleshooting including switching and routing
- Demonstrated Experience in RF or radar systems
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
- Eligibility to be cleared for International Traffic In Arms (ITAR) regulations
