The Office of Support for Teacher Education Programs and Global Student Teaching is seeking candidates for Temporary Assistant to the Director. The College of New Jersey's School of Education core mission is to develop high-quality educational professionals who possess solid content knowledge, demonstrated clinical competence, and a clearly articulated belief that all individuals deserve the highest quality practices in their schools and clinics. The School of Education is divided into four academic departments (Early Childhood/Elementary, Secondary Education, Special Education, and Counselor Education) with a Support for Teacher Education Program (STEP) Office and Certification Office and a Global Student Teaching office that oversees all student preparation field experiences, coordinates the Professional Development School Network (PDSN), and all programs organized by these groups. This position resides in the STEP Office and reports to the Director of the STEP Office in administrative and operational respects of the office. This position is temporary, lasting from March to May.

The Temporary Assistant to the Director's responsibilities are as follows:

Personal scheduling and initiating correspondence on behalf of the Director. Supporting the work of Assistant Director as needed. Responding to questions from students and faculty/college administrators, acting as a liaison between the STEP Office and school districts, superintendents, faculty, students and administrators both inside and outside of TCNJ. Initiating, scheduling and overseeing our Teachers as Scholars Program throughout the academic year. Scheduling, marketing, registering and closing out various conferences throughout the academic year. Processing honoraria for faculty supervisors and cooperating teachers. Responsible for accounts payable pertaining to office operations. Ordering office supplies as necessary.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teachers as Scholars: Initiate, schedule, market and coordinate bi-weekly seminars with liaisons and teachers throughout New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Order books and materials for TAS seminars. Generate and distribute Professional Development Certificates for TAS attendees.
  • Miscellaneous Meetings and Conferences: Scheduling, marketing, coordinating various conferences and meetings including catering, parking, registration, invoicing and billing.
  • Processing of cooperating teacher stipends, and honoraria. Initiating correspondence regarding procedures. Processing PD Certifications as needed.
  • Administrative, scheduling and clerical support to Director. Provide clerical support as needed to Assistant Director. Assist in hiring and managing student workers.
  • Required Qualifications:

  • Excellent personal skills, writing skills and organizational skills.
  • Continuously update office skills regarding software (Excel, Word, etc.) and office equipment. Skills working within Google Team Drives.
  • Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree.
