Job Description: VP, Data Architecture
In this leadership role you will help drive the "Data In" Strategy for the Workplace Investing division of Fidelity Investments. You will work with Enterprise Architects to come up with the strategy to support cloud-based modernization of legacy applications along with many other leading-edge initiatives. You will work closely with business partners and technology teams to understand business objectives and help define the appropriate architecture direction.
The Expertise You Have
- Education - BS or MS required
- 15+ years of experience working in Data Architecture and/or Data Engineering
- Experience architecting large complex systems with large volumes and high-performance requirements
- Ability to work at both strategic and detailed levels, develop data strategies aligned to the future WI Data In vision and lead the architectural design and execution of detailed technology patterns and solutions
- Work collaboratively with Enterprise Architects across business units to create one Fidelity Architecture Strategy
- Act as a thought partner to leadership and colleagues across engineering and product to translate strategies into execution and delivery
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with product owners, architects and technical leads for Data In products and applications and challenge decisions made with a focus on the overall architecture
- A strong influencer who can integrate effectively into an open and visible culture
The Skills You Bring
- Ability to formulate Data Strategy, Conceptual Architectures, Business Architectures and work with development teams to execute the strategy
- Excellent analytical and critical reasoning skills are a must for decomposing complicated tech stacks
- Excellent understanding of relational and non-relational database technologies such as Oracle, DB2, Yugabyte, Snowflake, etc. a must
- Experience with data integration, bulk data processing, and event driven architecture using tools such as SnapLogic, Informatica, Python, etc. required
- Experience with complex migration, refactoring and decommission projects is highly desired
- Experience in various Data Access patterns, and Data Abstraction designs is required
- Experience and knowledge on Data Modelling is highly desired and the ability to work with the Data Modelling teams
- Experience with programming languages like Java, Python, Spark a plus
- Experience with data management practice including data integration, data security, data warehousing, data analytics, metadata management and data quality
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and oral communication skills
